Adventure awaits! Western NC and North GA abound with opportunities for recreation and relaxation. Set your sights on long-range views with visits to Bell Mountain in Hiawassee (20-minute drive) and Brasstown Bald (highest point in GA, 35-minute drive). Spend the day on Lake Chatuge with a boat or personal watercraft rental from a local marina or launch your own from nearby public access. Want to immerse yourself in nature in the Nantahala National Forest? Bring your mountain bikes and ride the first-class trails at Jackrabbit Mountain (also great for hiking and dog-friendly) less than 10 minutes from the property. Fires Creek Recreation Area (25-minute drive) is another Western NC local favorite for hiking with picturesque views, swimming, and trout fishing. On the GA side, take a 30-minute drive to a waterfall hike via the High Shoals Falls Trail or make the 30-minute drive to Alpine Helen, GA for a taste of Bavaria in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Hungry and thirsty after a day of exploration? Visit the outstanding local restaurants, wineries, and breweries in and around downtown Hayesville and Hiawassee for not-to-be-missed tastes of local flavor.

We love the #lakelife around here as well as the majestic mountains. So much to do and see right in town. We have a handy Welcome Book in the house full of dining options, things to do, shopping, hiking and waterfall trails. Wineries with live music events and tastings are in abundance! You can head over to Helen for tubing or zip lining or a taste of the Bavarian style town.

Hike or drive to the apex of Bell Mountain, which overlooks Lake Chatuge below and provides picturesque mountain views. Shooting Creek Overlook is breathtaking. Visit Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Jackrabbit Mountain and Chatuge Dam. Both Towns County (Hiawassee GA) and Clay County (Hayesville NC) have super parks and beaches. trailheads of the Appalachian Trail, which spans from Georgia to Maine, are less than 10 miles from this home.

There’s a handy guidebook in the house which details places to eat, where to shop, marinas, where to hike, waterfalls, all kinds of things to do...

There are outside security cameras for our guest security as well as the homeowners. These are for security purposes only; they are not monitored.
2 cameras on the back deck that look at lake and mountains and the other looks at the road coming up toward the drive. 1 camera looking at the driveway. and 1 camera on right side of home looking at the back street.

Owner has supplied firewood for your stay.

All trash must be in kitchen size bags. please tie them up before placing in outside receptacle.

House Rules

All trash must be in bags.
When checking out...
1) Leave used towels in the tub or shower.
2) Used beds should be left unmade.
3) Wash dishes, or if applicable, load dishes in dishwasher and turn on.
4) Adjust temp settings. AC to 78* in summer. HEAT to 60* in winter.
5) Put all trash in bags in can outside.
6) Remove any opened food items from the frig.
7) If you moved any furniture, inside or outside, put it back.
8) Turn off lights, ceiling fans, TV...
9) Make sure all doors are locked and key is returned where you got it.
