Neighborhood
Welcome to your Smoky Mountain paradise. Nestled deep in the foothills, our Land of Falls properties offer unparalleled access to Southern Appalachia's best. We're a little bit off the beaten path, the nearest town with restaurants and a supermarket is about 12 miles away, but we promise it's worth it.
Some will simply want to wake up, sit and look at the unending view of the Smoky Mountains, while others will slip on their Keens and walk forever in the day through an almost enchanted forest with rim top views of the deep Lake Logan Canyon.
This part of North Carolina is absolutely packed with natural wonders. We named the property Land of Falls because of its proximity to hundreds of breathtaking waterfalls. And just a stone's throw away are the hiking trails of Cold Mountain, Fork Mountain, Buckeye Ridge, and Chimney Rock State Park. Just a few miles south, you'll find Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock, 60-foot natural water slide that feeds into a forested swimming hole.
The property is situated just over picturesque Lake Logan. The lake is privately owned and was long closed to the public, but day passes are now available for purchase online or from the Visitor Center to swim, fish, hike, and picnic. Boats are also available for use on the lake.
You're just 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest. Following the parkway will take you to the south entrance of Great Smoky Mountain National Park in under an hour. Experience fantastic wildlife and breathtaking views, hike part of the Appalachian Trail or make the trek up to Clingmans Dome, the Park's highest peak.
After you visit the Park, don't miss the towns of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Get your thrills at America's friendliest theme park–Dollywood, visit the Titanic Museum, Ripley's Believe it or Not, or take in one of their famous dinner shows.
For car and motorcycle enthusiasts, the area is home to hundreds more miles of scenic winding mountain roads, including the Tail of The Dragon, where thousands of drivers flock each year to test their skills against 318 hairpin turns in the 11-mile stretch of road.
If a night out on the town is calling your name, you're only 40 minutes from Downtown Asheville. The city has won countless travel awards and was recently named Yelp's #1 city for foodies. Enjoy a cold local brew at one of the 30+ breweries. Shop for the finest local produce at WNC Farmers Market. Spend the day getting lost in the sprawling gardens of the Biltmore Estate. Enjoy a casual meal at White Duck Tacos or have an upscale night out at 2022 James Beard Award-winning restaurants Chia Pani and Cúrate.
You won’t run out of things to do during your stay at Land of Falls.
Access
You'll have the entire home and 35-acre mountaintop property to yourself during your stay.
Space
Timberroot is a small, family-owned business that creates rustic spaces that allow you to relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature.
There is no experience in the eastern Smokies like Cold Mountain Lodge.
Located atop its own peak, with a gated 1.5 mile drive up the mountain, you will enjoy 360º views of Cold Mountain, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Waynesville, and the Great Smoky Mountains.
This perfectly isolated, luxury cabin was meticulously constructed of logs shipped from British Columbia and stone cut from the property.
When you enter the lodge, there is a breathtaking great room to the left with a generous dining area. Just to the right is the fairytale kitchen, with a half bath.
Past the kitchen is the Main Suite with a spacious full bathroom, luxurious king bed, and walk-in closet. The Great Room boasts a massive stone fireplace and hearth with wood-carved stairs leading to the loft, compete with a full size pool table. Before heading upstairs is a door to the main level front deck – a one-of-a-kind place to have your morning coffee.
The loft has its own stunning characteristics, with a spacious den, office space, two bedrooms, and a full bath between the two bedrooms. One of the bedrooms offers two twins while the other is a queen.
Finally, down to the lower level is a large den for TV viewing, a laundry room and bathroom.
Finally, outside is where you can let your worries melt away while you soak in your private mountaintop hot tub, surrounded by nothing but incredible panoramic views and the sounds of nature. Then spend the evening's fireside roasting marshmallows at your private flagstone fire pit.
