Totally peaceful & private, near Tramuntana foothills
The sweet scent of jasmine fills the air as you pass the pool area and approach this honey coloured pretty stone Villa, scenically tucked at the foot the south facing pine clad foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains. Erstwhile a small Mallorquin Finca, Ca’n Cedes has been lovingly converted into a comfortable, private and utterly tranquil retreat where the only sounds that interrupt the silence are the music of the sheep bells and soft birdsong. The Finca itself is set in several hectares of fruit orchard where oranges, lemons, clementines and figs flower and ripen in turn providing a succession of fruit for the table.
Inside, beneath the wood beamed ceilings, the Villa layout makes for easy living with all four bedrooms leading from the spacious open plan kitchen/dining/sitting area. The kitchen, equipped with every amenity you would expect, dishwasher, microwave, gas hob, electric oven and large fridge freezer, has marble surfaces topping wood cupboards and is separated from the polished wood dining table by a breakfast bar. French doors open to the favoured summer dining spot, a lovely vine covered terrace with views over the beautiful countryside. Back inside, the sitting area is comfortably furnished with squashy sofas, a coffee table and a TV with satellite reception (restricted English reception).
At this end of the Villa is a romantically furnished master bedroom with a queen sized bed and ensuite full bathroom. A single bedroom with a ¾ sized bed shares the family bathroom with the twin bedroom and second single bedroom, again with a ¾ sized bed both of which lead from a small hallway by the dining area.
Windows and French doors and a door from a small hallway at the rear ensure a natural cooling flow of air in the living area, keeping the temperature down during the summer. Central heating and an open fire provide warmth for the occasional cooler evening, early and late season.
Across a paved sun terrace the sparkling 8m x 4.50m tiled swimming pool (depth 1.7m) and its surrounding sun terraces, furnished with sun loungers and umbrella, is fenced and a lockable gate gives piece of mind to those with toddlers.
Tucked away in the orchard at the side of the Villa can be found a covered barbecue with ceramic sink and a solid stone table on the barbecue terrace, but if you should happen to prefer to do your barbecuing by the pool, or on the sun terrace or at any other spot, the owners have also thoughtfully provided a portable barbecue.
Ca’n Cedes, will have tremendous appeal to both couples and families with children who wish to immerse themselves in truly beautiful Mallorcan countryside with easy access to the lovely beaches in Pollenca Bay. Campanet has an excellent sports centre with tennis courts to hire and its just a 10 mins drive to the Pollenca Golf Course
There is a local agent who will assist with any requirements. You will also have a 24 hour UK emergency contact number.
Campanet & Buger, Mallorca
Situated on the edge of the green and wooded foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, the village of Campanet's one claim to fame is its amazing limestone caves, said to house the longest stalactite in the world! It also makes a good starting point for an exhilarating drive to the mountain top Monastry at Lluc via the picturesque village of Caimari.
Campanet has no less than three bakeries, as well as a well-stocked supermarket and a delicatessen. The sunny church square has a number of simple bars and small shops and it's a pleasant spot to linger over a morning coffee and sugary ensaimada before heading off for the day. Of an evening there are also two or three bars that serve authentic tapas or simple meals, but the village has surprisingly remained a peaceful backwater, virtually untouched by tourism.
Perched twin like atop a neighbouring hill and just 5 mins drive away, Buger (pronounced Boohair) is Mallorca's smallest municipality and holiday accommodation is still rare. Having received enthusiastic feedback about this drowsy little town from customers staying nearby, we were delighted to be offered a house on the outskirts. In the shady streets surrounding its magnificent church, life continues at a measured pace, much as it was before Mallorca became a holiday destination but a bank, post office, a small weekly market, minimarket, three simple cafe/bars, a popular weekend restaurant with a pretty terrace and an excellent baker provide the necessities of life.
Old Pollena with a good choice of shops and restaurants is no more than a 15 minute drive. However for a truly memorable occasion, book a table at a small hotel in the nearby village of Binibona where gourmet food is served on a candlelit terrace. If you dont want to drink and drive theres even a local taxi.
For serious shoppers, the town of Inca, famous for its leather goods and with some excellent cellar resaturants, is a 10 minutes drive and from here or, even nearer Sa Pobla, you can also catch a train to Palma.
The nearest beaches at Puerto Pollenca or Alcudia are approx. 20 minutes drive.

2 kms from the narrow shady streets of tiny hilltop Campanet, with its weekly market, baker, shops and café bars serving simple meals and tapas, Ca’n Cedes is also just a pleasant short stroll from the entrance to one of restaurants of the area, offering fine dining or simple lunchtime p’amb oli (the mallorcan equivalent of an open sandwich) and served on its terrace, accompanied by a glass of chilled white wine, it makes a pleasant way to pass an afternoon. The area is perfect for walkers and cyclists with many way marked paths and tracks.
